Amari Brantley, a 21-year-old African American male from Waterbury, Connecticut, Amari is a 2024 graduate with Summa Cum laude honors and current MBA student at Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Amari has aspirations to become a politician and civil rights attorney, Amari is dedicated to making a difference in his community and beyond. Previously, Amari served as President of the Waterbury NAACP Pride Youth Council for four terms, where he demonstrated a profound commitment to youth advocacy.
He recently concluded his term as the president of the Philander Smith University NAACP chapter where he chartered the chapter in October of 2023, Amari also served as the Vice president of the Arkansas state NAACP. Through this work he has been able to reflect on his deep-rooted passion for leadership and community service. Outside of his commitments to the NAACP,
Amari is active in several other capacities in the City of Waterbury and communities all over the
United States. In 2022 Amari became a member of his beloved fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Which allows him to excel in serving all communities Amari currently works as a community impact and Civic engagement program manager at Waterbury Bridge to Success specializing in youth mental health awareness efforts and Political Participation for youth When Amari resides in Connecticut, he enjoys volunteering and making a difference in his community.
His efforts have fostered collaborations with government officials and organizations, emphasizing socio-emotional learning and wrap-around services for youth. Notably, Amari's work with the Waterbury Police Department has been instrumental in securing summer employment programs for local youth. For the past 5 years Amari has collaborated with the Waterbury police department and hosted the “ Building Bridges and Breaking barriers” Basketball classic which brings awareness to local community policing efforts. Amari is committed to uplifting youth voices and fostering sustainable change in his community, As he puts it, “Investing in our youth today is the key to building a stronger, more equitable tomorrow.”
